Welcome to Jehile.com
Old-Time Fiddler
|
March 1st 2009 NEWS! New Site Jehile.org is up and has Jehile's (and others) music you can see, hear Jehile Play, and hear the sound of the music I transcribed using Sibelius Software.
Jehile.org
Jehile plays the Swamp Lake Breakdown
Dial-up users: FREE mp3 files of Jehile (about 270 as of August 2005)
Jehile's Tunes are in the link on left: Music(mp3) There are many tunes in each folder you come to so be patient. Once the folder opens the individual tunes open much faster.
NOTATION: Go to Sibeliusmusic.com and search for BERBAUM; there are about 97 tunes in notes and some TAB, all are my interpretation of how Jehile played these tunes. However on Jehile.org (see link above) you see the notes, can slow down the nores and hear JEHILE play the tune all on the same page
Jehile lived without electricity, came from a long line of Old-Time Fiddlers and won the 1954 World Championship Old-Time Fiddler's contest in Crockett, Texas. He was our dear friend and teacher. After reviewing many Old-Time Fiddlers on the web, we feel Jehile is worthy of a home here. His versions of tunes are what sets him apart from the average good player. The large number of tunes and catagories of tunes makes this collection unique and a valuable teaching tool for those who want a sample of the diversity of a well practiced, pre-electricity, Early American Fiddler. The Library of Congress, American Folk Life Center has also collected many of Jehile's versions of fiddle tunes.
Please look us over and download some FREE tunes by Jehile as .mp3. These are small files that will download quickly.
When you click Jehile's Music (mp3's) you are taken to our site. Click MUSIC Us and Jehile. You will see folders of Tunes about 270 Tunes plus a Poem by Jehile, a printable list of these tunes and stories.
More tunes and Notation/Tab will be added when we are Home and not "on the road" performing these tunes for folks like YOU at Festivals, Art Centers, Historic Villages, Libraries, Schools and nice County Fairs.
We chose Sibeliusmusic.com to be the host for the Notation/TAB. Let me know what you think of this site.
